The Twelve Days of Christmas Day 6
Health and Safety Myth
Carol singer’s health and safety is at risk.
Surely no-one would object to hearing the dulcet tones of carol singers serenading us in the run up to Christmas. Well, in the years of Christmas past, it has been noted that insurance companies have produced comprehensive ‘health and safety’ guides for people wishing to take part in this age old tradition, and parish councils have ordered groups of singers to apply for a permit in order to stop them upsetting home-owners.
These, as well as the well-intentioned pieces of advice such as ‘don’t sing in the middle of the road’ and ‘don’t carry large amounts of cash’ are not requirements of health and safety law, they simply make good sense.
