The Twelve Days of Christmas Day 8
Health and Safety Myth
Children are banned from throwing snowballs.
Every year “health and safety” is quoted as the reason why children should not be allowed to throw snowballs, particularly in school playgrounds.
When we spend time on trivial risks there is a much greater and real risk that we will miss the most important ones. Time would be better spent focusing on how to make things happen safely, not finding reasons to stop them happening at all. Take a sensible approach to managing risk and focus on the practical actions that will tackle those risks that cause real harm and suffering.
