The Twelve Days of Christmas – Myth One

Myth One:

Workers are banned from putting up Christmas decorations in the office.

Reality:

We regularly come across companies who have stopped their workers decorating for Christmas using ‘health and safety’ as the reason or because the work needed to be carried out by a “qualified” person.

Most organisations including HSE and your local council offices where your local EHO is based will manage to decorate their walls and trees and brighten up their Christmas’ without a fuss. They just sensibly provide their staff with suitable step ladders to put up decorations or dress the trees and ensure the activity is covered by a work at height risk assessment (if applicable).
