The government has announced upcoming increases to statutory family leave rates, including statutory maternity pay. Family leave rates will rise to £187.18 per week, up from the current rate of £184.03 per week. These new rates will apply to employees who meet the qualifying conditions for the respective payments.
Statutory Family Leave Rates
Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) / Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP)
- First 6 weeks: Paid at 90% of normal weekly earnings.
- Following 33 weeks: Paid at £187.18 per week (or 90% of normal weekly earnings if this is lower).
Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP)
- Paid at £187.18 per week (or 90% of normal weekly earnings if this is lower).
Statutory Shared Parental Pay (ShPP)
- Paid at £187.18 per week (or 90% of normal weekly earnings if this is lower).
Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay (SPBP)
- Paid at £187.18 per week (or 90% of normal weekly earnings if this is lower).
Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) Increase
Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) will also increase, rising from £116.75 per week to £118.75 per week.
Effective Date
These changes are scheduled to take effect in April 2025.
