Many businesses invest heavily in PPE whilst overlooking exposure time management, which is often where the greatest risk reduction can be achieved. Anti-vibration gloves and better-designed tools help, but they only ever reduce exposure – they do not eliminate it.
Sometimes simply changing work patterns or introducing alternative tools can dramatically reduce exposure. Rotating staff between vibrating and non-vibrating tasks, scheduling regular breaks, or servicing equipment so it runs efficiently can lower daily exposure without any capital investment at all.
