Jobcentre staff were banned from sticking Christmas decorations on the ceiling – in case they fell and injured themselves.

Employees at Bolton and Farnworth Jobcentre were told that ceiling decorations would not be allowed as someone could quite easily fall while putting them up, they were also told that only a small Christmas tree would be allowed.

The management company were quoted as stating:

“It is important that we pay attention to the health and safety implications of this activity.”

The verdict

Most organisations manage to put up their decorations, celebrating the spirit of Christmas without a fuss. They just sensibly provide their staff with suitable step ladders to put up decorations rather than expecting staff to balance on wheelie chairs.
