Mental Health Week Top Tip #5 – Help your employees to grow

As part of creating a positive working environment in which employees can thrive it’s important that employers take steps to help employees grow and develop.

Providing employees with training, support and the opportunity for career development can provide a positive boost to employees’ mental health in the workplace by ensuring they have the skills and confidence they need to do their job to the best of their ability. If there are opportunities for career development this can encourage employees to set themselves goals and take positive steps to help them achieve their full potential.

With these things in mind, employers may wish to:

  • Carry out a training audit to identify what training, if any, it could be beneficial to carry out / make available
  • Ensure employees know that they can talk to their manager if they have any workplace problems, concerns or need some help
